Google, a US-based tech company, has launched a new feature dubbed "Magic Compose", which uses artificial intelligence (AI), to help users compose text messages. This feature, which is currently in beta, is available exclusively to Android users in the United States.
Google's messaging app now includes its AI chatbot Bard. This is to enhance the texting experience for users. Magic Compose is designed specifically for RCS (Rich Communication Services), conversations within the Messages application.
By tapping the pencil icon beside the text input field users can use Magic Compose to suggest ways to start a conversation, or rephrase a message in different tones and styles.
Magic Compose currently supports seven distinct styles, including Remix, Chill, Shakespearean, Lyrical, and Formal. There is a caveat that you should be aware of. The feature temporarily sends Google's servers up to 20 messages from the past, including emojis and URLs.
Google does not store or use the data from these messages, even if they are encrypted with RCS.
Google emphasizes that it only accesses these messages to provide users with suggestions that are relevant to the ongoing conversation. The company assures users that the privacy of their data is paramount and that no information will be retained or used beyond the immediate context to generate suggestions.
Google Maps Street View is now available in India, giving users a virtual tour of cities all over the country. The feature was initially launched as a test in Bengaluru (Karnataka) last year. It is now available at multiple locations across the country.
