Beginning January 8, AlipayHK users will be able to pay for Shenzhen metro rides using their local app. This will enhance the seamless travel experience for Hong Kong residents on the mainland. This service is made possible by Alipay+ and Shenzhen's subway operator. It follows a similar payment system integration to bus operators in major cities throughout Guangdong province.

Venetia Lee is the General Manager of Ant Group Greater China International Business. She stated, "As pioneers in the field of digital lives, we hope to play an even bigger role in building digital infrastructure in the Greater Bay Area to enhance connectivity and contribute to the better growth of the region."

Lee stated that AlipayHK will be widely adopted on the Chinese mainland as the demand for travel between Hong Kong and the mainland remains strong. Cross-bound activities are expected to normalize. "Alipay+ solutions have been adopted by millions and are ready for international travelers to return to China, and AlipayHK has already been adopted by these merchants."

AlipayHK, one of the most well-known e-wallets in Hong Kong is now widely accepted by supermarkets, convenience stores, supermarkets, and restaurants. Customers can scan the QR code of the merchant to pay or present their in-app QR code to scan for payment.

AlipayHK is not the only one that connects with Chinese merchants. Alipay+ announced last November that its mobile payment partners, including South Korea's Kakao Pay, and Malaysia's Touch ‘n Go eWallet, would soon be accepted on the mainland. This announcement was made in conjunction with the Singapore Fintech Festival. Its goal is to facilitate international visitors' payments ahead of the Hangzhou Asian Games.

After a trial in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, Kakao Pay and Touch ’n Go eWallet users are expected to seamlessly pay with their respective apps while moving around Hangzhou and the surrounding cities where the Hangzhou Asian Games will be held.

Alipay+ provides unified global mobile payments and marketing solutions that connect merchants to multiple e-wallets. Alipay+ allows consumers to use their preferred local payment method while transacting in another market seamlessly. They also have the opportunity to receive marketing offers from merchants through Alipay+.

Globally, Alipay+'s merchant coverage has nearly doubled in the past year to more than 2.5 million. This includes regional and global digital entertainment providers and lifestyle services. It also includes a wide range of brick-and-mortar businesses that cover major airports and shopping centers.

Businesses in Japan, South Korea, and Singapore are using Alipay+ to connect with more than 15 digital payment methods and better engage with more than 1 billion consumers.

Alipay+'s merchant coverage covers more than 1,000 online platforms, over 90,000. convenience stores, 360,000 restaurants, and nearly 200,000 taxis. It also includes major hotel brands, department shops, duty-free shops, and tourist facilities in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
