Exclusive: State Freedom Caucuses Reveal Push for Attorneys General To Leave National Association Over Woke ESG Agenda

Following exclusive reporting by Breitbart news, the Mississippi State Freedom Caucuses and South Dakota are urging their respective attorneys generals to leave the National Association of Attorneys General.

Following new Breitbart News exclusive reporting that the organization had invested money from public settlements into Environmental, Social, and Governance investments (ESG), the Mississippi State Freedom Caucuses is urging their respective attorneys generals to leave the National Association of Attorneys General.

On Monday, South Dakota Freedom Caucus legislators wrote to Attorney General Marty Jackley, first seen by Breitbart news. The letter urged Jackley to quit the national association following exclusive reporting by Breitbart's Breccan Thiies that revealed that NAAG had been using taxpayer funds for investments in companies that support left-leaning ESG goals.

The South Dakota Freedom Caucus wrote that Jackley is being pushed to resign after his colleague, Kansas Attorney general Kris Kobach, revealed that NAAG had invested money from public settlements into ESG investment that "destroy shareholder values in pursuit of faddish ideologies, often without proper disclosure to shareholders." ESG investing is a form leftist activism in Wall Street that influences the way Wall Street financial companies and corporations, such BlackRock, continue taking social and political stances that are not relevant to their business. This includes stances related to climate change and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), agenda.

Breitbart News reported that even though Brian Kane, executive director of NAAG, claims that "there is no mention ESG or other considerations not consistent with the unintended prudent investor rule" in the organization’s investments, BlackRock (the world's largest asset manager) was included in NAAG's portfolio on December 31."This news is in addition to our previously expressed concerns about the increasingly liberal orientation NAAG's staffing, mission, and mission. The group stated that they don't believe it is possible to reform NAAG internally at this time." We urge you to leave NAAG and return the money that South Dakota taxpayers and the government have accumulated to support it," the group wrote.

South Dakota Freedom Caucus suggested that their attorney general "participate to any coming legal action that would secure our state's interest against the liberal bureaucrats who have taken over NAAG", and indicated that they would "fully support" Jackley.

Mississippi Freedom Caucus legislators also wrote to Attorney General Lynn Fitch (who is on the NAAG Executive Committee) to renew their push for her resignation from last year, when she asked her to quit the organization due to "financial mismanagement and its leftward shift." However, the group stated that this was also due to the Breitbart news reporting that the South Dakota Freedom Caucus had mentioned.

The group wrote that the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG), is back in the news because it was caught using money from public settlements to invest in ESG investments." You are a member of the NAAG Executive Committee. These ESG investments were only discovered by your new conservative colleague,... Kobach." The Mississippi Freedom Caucus asked, "If NAAG is investing behind your back in left-wing ESG campaign campaigns, what else are their doing without your knowledge? What else can you do at NAAG?"What other activities are the left-wing career staff working with NAAG leaders from New York, Connecticut, and Oregon?Recognizing that Fitch had asked for NAAG to be dissolved once before, the Mississippi Freedom Caucus group of legislators demanded that Fitch quit NAAG and take legal actions to protect the public's money. They also said that the "charade" of reforming NAAG from within was over." It is evident to everyone that legal recourse is coming. It is time for you stop being on the sidelines. You must adhere to your conservative principles, withdraw NAAG and bring our millions home, regardless of what it takes." Andy Roth, president of the State Freedom Caucus Network exclusively stated to Breitbart News, "NAAG is primarily made of woke unelected bureaucrats, who have repeatedly shown that they are more interested supporting leftist policies -- literally at cost of the American taxpayer." These latest revelations make it clear that you have to wonder what else they are doing behind closed doors. We urge all state AGs not to support this organization.
