Loreen was the betting site's favorite to win the competition this year. She won the competition in Sweden last year. Noa Kirel was voted the audience's favorite on the TikTok competition a day before finals, and her performance received the most likes on Instagram.
Loreen from Sweden is the big winner of Eurovision 2023. Her song "Tattoo", which scored 583 points, was the most popular. Noa Kirel from Israel came in third place with 362 points, after performing "Unicorn", to the roaring applause of the crowd. Finland's Kaarija came in second with 526 points for her song "Cha Cha Cha".
Sweden won the judges' vote with 340 points, far ahead of all other competitors. Israel was second with 177, followed by Italy and Finland in a close race. Germany was last with only three points.
The audience vote changed the picture. Kirel told the Israeli media that she was "so proud" to have ended this amazing journey as one of the top three."Thank you for being with me on this incredible journey and allowing me to hold the Israeli flag at the largest music stage in the World. Kirel continued, "You are my unicorn."
Loreen won the competition in 2012 when she represented Sweden and sang "Euphoria."Weeks before the event, she was considered the favorite to win. Sweden has now won seven times in the competition. Sweden and Ireland are the nations with the most wins. Loreen is the second woman in history to win Eurovision twice. She performed her song barefoot, with power and sweep, and it was a performance that justified all the bets placed on her.
Kirel said, "It's impossible to describe in words how exciting and thrilling it was to represent my nation with hundreds of millions watching every move and sound around the globe."
Kirel sang the song "Unicorn", in the best way she could: with a strong vocal performance that was slightly different than her semi-final, and a flawless dance part that closed the song with 30 seconds of intricate choreography. Kirel cried at the end of her performance.
The entire event was meant to represent Ukraine as the last year's winner who was unable to host the competition because of the ongoing war with Russia. The show featured a collaboration between Ukrainian and British stars. The 2022 winner of the competition, the Kalosh orchestra band, appeared alongside British dignitaries such as Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sam Ryder in the opening clip.
