Jake Borelli: "Grey's Anatomy' Future Without Meredith": "It's Always Feeled Like an Ensemble Show To Me"
The ABC drama said goodbye to Ellen Pompeo earlier this year. But, TheWrap was not surprised by the actor's comments.

After Ellen Pompeo's last episode as a series regular aired in February, "Grey's Anatomy” went through one its biggest changes. Jake Borelli, a long-serving cast member, says that working on the ABC long-running medical drama feels like business as usual.
The actor, Dr. Levi Schmitt, first appeared on the series in Season 14 and then became a series regular in the following season.
Borelli tells TheWrap that "Grey's" has always followed a cycle of watching interns grow up and become residents. Then they become attendings. Then, you know, they leave the hospital or become chief, and then new interns are brought in."It's always felt to me like an ensemble show."
Meredith Grey, Pompeo's Meredith, was the interim chief of surgery at the hospital. She later moved to Boston to provide the education her daughter deserves at a prominent institution and to concentrate on her research into finding a cure. Meredith said a heartfelt goodbye to Seattle and the hospital she had started her career at. The episode aired on February 23.
"Ellen has never really gone, you know. She's still here, and her trailer is still there. Borelli stated that she had spoken out and said she might come back in. "It doesn't feel like the big farewell everyone is making it out to me," Borelli said.
Fans of the show feel that Meredith's departure from the screen is a significant adjustment. The series is in for more changes, as Krista Vernoff, showrunner of "Grey's", and "Station 19", previously announced that she would be leaving both "Grey's” and "Station 19" at their respective ends.
She stated in January that she was leaving 'Grey's Anatomy after seven seasons. The show was still running when Shonda called me to take over."So I'm not saying goodbye, because that would be too bittersweet."See you in seven seasons."
"I don't want the show to end. It's amazing. We're still telling wonderful stories and pushing the boundaries in terms of representation. Borelli stated that he would love to see the series continue."I hope for the season 20 pickup for certain. It would be amazing if the show lasted for at least two decades.
