The Hyundai Ioniq 6, the Korean brand's'streamliner' electric car, is on display at the 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show. Its debut in Bangkok is ahead of the confirmed arrival on Malaysian markets, which is scheduled to take place later this year.
The Ioniq 6 measures 4,855 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,495 mm high, with a wheelbase measuring 2,950 mm. According to the manufacturer, the 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery gives the Ioniq 6 a maximum range that allows for 610 km using the WLTP cycle. The Ioniq 6's slippery design results in a drag coefficient 0.21. This allows for an energy consumption rate 13.9 kWh/100 km. Hyundai claims that this makes it one of the most efficient EVs.
The Ioniq 6 shares the same E-GMP platform as the Ioniq 5. It also has an 800-volt electrical architecture that allows for 400-volt charging. The Ioniq 6 can be charged at up to 305kW to reach a 10-80% charge in as little as 18 minutes. The Ioniq 6 can also be used as a power supply by having a vehicle-toload (V2L), function.
We take a closer look at the Ioniq 6, including the digital side cameras that replace conventional mirrors, the Parametric Pixel design of its headlamps, rear combination lamps, and its high-mount stoplamp.
Based on information from Hyundai, the Ioniq 6 cabin maximizes legroom and overall space with the flat floor layout that is enabled by the central battery's location underfloor. You can choose from 64 colours or six dual-colour themes with ambient lighting.
The Ioniq 6's front panel features a 12-inch digital instrument panel as well as a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. It supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Bluetooth multi-connection allows you to pair up to two devices simultaneously. One for phone calls and one for media streaming.
The Ioniq 6 has been confirmed for Malaysia's market debut. It will join the Ioniq 5 locally. The Ioniq 5's Malaysian price starts at RM207,808; what will the Ioniq 6's curvy price tag be when it arrives?
Sime Darby cannot deliver, so there is no reason to get excited about this car. Few ionic 5, 5 have been delivered. Hyundai ships all their products to fulfill orders in America and Europe. Sending to Malaysia is not their priority. If you decide to book, good luck. After one year, I still haven't received my ioniq 5.
