What comes to your mind when you think about Ford fast Fords? Is it a top-tier Mustang Mustang? You might consider something like the Focus ST. What about a modified F-150 Lightning that showcases a Ford sponsorship deal? Ford shared details about a new partnership with Red Bull racing, Formula 1 champions.
The Blue Oval visited New York last Friday to confirm rumors about its partnership with Red Bull F1 in 2026.
As Red Bull Ford begins using Ford-branded engines, the current world champions will be Red Bull Ford.
We were able to see Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen driving Ford EVs around the track at the launch event. Verstappen was behind the wheel in a race-ready Mustang Mach-E while Perez piloted a Ford EV Supervan - and it seemed like he was having a lot of fun.
Ford has now teased another performance-oriented EV. Motor Authority first reported the rumors. They all stem from a Ford graphic that shows its performance models.
Below is a graphic showing a silhouette of Red Bull F1's car. It can also be seen the Ford Mustang race cars as well as the Ranger Raptor pickup trucks. A fourth silhouette, however, has people wondering what Ford Performance might be up to next. Motor Authority:"The next EV experiment could possibly be a high-output F-150 Lightning. Ford has created a Mustang Mach-E, which features seven electric motors that produce 1,400 horsepower. It also built an electric Ford Supervan with 1,972 horsepower and a 1978 F100 with an electric crate engine.
Ford's F-150 Lightning will be a tough competitor to its Supervan and Mach-E performance. The base truck can reach 60 mph in under four seconds, while its all-electric Supervan can achieve that feat in just two seconds.
The standard F-150 Lightning produces 775 lb-ft and 563 horsepower, which are about three times the power of the other demonstrator vehicles. Ford will need to give the electric truck more power.
The F-150 Lightning is also about 2,000 pounds heavier than the all-electric Mustang. This means that it will need even more power if it wants the F1 driver to smile.
Could this all mean that the F-150 could be lighter and more powerful than its predecessor? We don't know. Ford is the only one who knows. We'll just have to wait patiently for the Blue Oval to reveal its new beast.
